New Voices Festival: Departures II
Dominik joins pianist Nathaniel LaNasa for the world premiere of Matthew Ricketts’ The Threefold Terror of Love, a Brooklyn Art Song Society commission. The program also includes works by Katherine Balch, Charlotte Bray and Aida Shirazi performed by vocalists Lucy Fitz-Gibbon, Charlotte Mundy and Emily Triebold and pianists Brent Funderburk and Ryan McCullough. Dominik joins bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward for the premiere of Liza Lim’s Boat Song. The program, Solitary Voices, will feature 5 world premieres for bassoon.
The Old Man and the Sea
Dominik joins Beth Morrison Projects for a residency and workshop performance of Paola Prestini, Royce Vavrek and Karmina Šilec’s new opera, The Old Man and the Sea, which interweaves Hemingway’s classic fable with original portraits of quotidian life to create a look at aging, legacy, and our relationship to oceans. Dominik joins pianist and curator Nathanial LaNasa and soprano Robin Steitz for a program of songs by Matthew Ricketts, Shawn Jaeger, Jake Landau and more. The Pleasures of the Quarrel
Members of the NYBDC and Catherine Turocy will collaborate in a new creation under the direction of Rebecca Harris-Warrick, The Pleasures of the Quarrel: Three Parisian Hits from the Contested Operatic Season of 1753. The project imagines a mash-up by three factions of opera lovers in mid-18th-century Paris, during the so-called “War of the Buffoons”. Using excerpts from three memorable works, it will highlight the aesthetic concerns of the day while giving them a lively airing within a contemporary frame. More information can be found here.

Experience an interactive evening of art and song in a dazzling journey of the senses at National Sawdust. You will be guided through 21c Liederabend Op. Senses with a handmade book for each audience member from artist Kathryn Hamilton with special artifacts that correspond with each piece, expanding your experience of the work beyond the usual sight and sound. Curated and directed by Beth Morrison and Paola Prestini, the performances features spectacular works by Juhi Bansal, Gabriela Frank, Molly Joyce, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Missy Mazzoli, Angélica Negrón, Emma O’Halloran, Paola Prestini, Ellen Reid, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and Du Yun.
